CEREAL TOPPED DONUTS
i can remember when all the dominick's grocery stores were going our of business in the suburbs of chicago, to replaced with a mariano's. eager to scope out the replacement, my parents headed to the nearest mariano's and came back with these crazy, never-before-told stories of the best donuts ever. donuts with cereal on top. i can remember thinking "what? who dares to tread on the holy grail of breakfast foods by mixing two of the best together?" but with the convincing rave reviews from my family members, i slowly warmed up to the idea. then last fall, while in LA, i tried my first cereal topped donut. i. was. hooked. so... for national donut day this year i thought i'd try my hand at making my own delicious breakfast rule breakers.
