CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS: COOKIE DECORATING NIGHT

it’s truly organized chaos, but it’s the best! if you’ve been following along for a little while now or know me personally at all, you’ll know i love traditions + this cookie decorating tradition is no exception! this year, we baked over 200 cookies to give out as gifts + decorated almost all of them. thankfully, when you have a team of about 7 people, it’s not too challenging.

to provide sustenance, we had charcuterie, chips + salsa, all the soups, + cranberry mules — which crossed off another activity on my christmas checklist!

we get reeeeeeal intricate with the details + give extra points for creativity. each year we choose a theme that guides the cookie decoration, and then we have a competition to see whose cookie takes the prize! in the past we’ve done star wars, disney, + the like. this year was all about “2021 in review”. of course, we do christmas themed cookies in addition. then, each person chooses two cookies to enter into the competition, + the voting begins.

can you tell what 2021 events were chosen? i see three harry styles related cookies, one taylor swift, one photo recreation, two medical field, + some school spirit!

this graying [but still cute] little pup was the sole cleanup crew + was veeeery happy when bits of crumbs, frosting, or sprinkles dropped on the ground. she knows what’s up. overall, it was a wonderful evening as always! i’m not sure if we even ended up choosing a winner, but they were all pretty great. additionally, we ate our fair share of them before even getting to the voting process. :)

wishing you all a very merry christmas filled with lots of love, safety, health, friends + family, + all of the joy. may your season be the brightest, even in these dark times.
